Synopsis

Thumbing across the west Texas desert, Jack Reacher has nowhere to go. Cruising the same stretch of blacktop is Carmen Greer. But the lift comes with a hitch. She's got a wild story to tell--about her husband, her family secrets, and a hometown that's pure Gothic.

Third time reading. Excellent book. I love Reacher. I love Lee Child as an author.

    Confusion abound!

I like Lee Child's books generally, but this one seemed to take forever to work itself out. I could not follow the roles of the watchers and the shooters, and border patrol, as they seemed to be a separate book altogether from the Carmen plotline. Ultimately, I think I am far more confused about Carmen than Reacher is. I am still confused, and the ending was delivered at supersonic speed in the final few pages!! Hmmm, does a vegetarian eat tuna salad?
