Synopsis

A heartwarming dog story like no other: Tuesday, a lovable golden retriever, changes a former soldier's life forever.

A highly decorated captain in the U.S. Army, Luis Montalván never backed down from a challenge during his two tours of duty in Iraq. After returning home from combat, however, his physical wounds and crippling post-traumatic stress disorder began to take their toll. He wondered if he would ever recover.

Then Luis met Tuesday, a sensitive golden retriever trained to assist the disabled. Tuesday had lived among prisoners and at a home for troubled boys, and he found it difficult to trust in or connect with a human being--until Luis.

Until Tuesday is the story of how two wounded warriors, who had given so much and suffered the consequences, found salvation in each other. It is a story about war and peace, injury and recovery, psychological wounds and spiritual restoration. But more than that, it is a story about the love between a man and dog, and how, together, they healed each other's souls.

I REALLY LOVED THIS BOOK. U MAY THINK IT'S ABOUT A BEAUTIFUL DOG, WHICH IT IS, BUT I LEARNED SO MUCH ABOUT THE WAR IN IRAQ, VETERANS, PTSD, THE HOMELESS & THE SPOILED RICH. AN EXCELLENT, HEARTWARMING BOOK. VERY WELL WRITTEN & A COMPELLING READ, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.

Educating and gut wrenching what soldiers endure during war and the devastaing effects they are left with. The power of healing that a dog can bring......unmeasureable and priceless.

I bought this book because I have a fascination with golden retrievers. But this book is so much more than a read about an amazing dog. It touches your soul as we realize the pain that many of our returning military people endure as they try to return to the reality of civilian life. A must read in my opinion.

I bought Until Tuesday as my first book for my new e-reader. It caught my eye, being a dog owner & dog lover. It turns out not just to be a beautifully written book about that special bond between a human & a dog, but a real emotional eye-opener. There weren't too many pages that didn't have me crying or laughing. I read it in stages, as some chapters were hard to read & worth taking the time to digest. Luis Montalvan really opens himself up to show us what it is like being a soldier in the midst of war, as well as what it is like to live with PTSD & all of its difficulties . He took his traumas, both physical & mental, met them head-on & dealt with them - with help from some wonderful people & one wonderful dog. He took his anger (in my mind justified) at the US military & government & turned them into being an advocate for wounded veterans, service dogs & a more honest & caring military. I learned lots - about the true experiences of war, about PTSD, about service dogs (it's absolutely amazing what they can be taught to do to help people in all kinds of situations) & about the human-dog bond. The highest of accolades to Luis & Tuesday - I hope they go on changing our world - and theirs - for a long time. This book will remain on my e-reader, as it's worth a re-read. I am trying to get an organization in my area to bring him in for a speaking engagement - he is so inspiring, I know lots of people who would go to see him.

This was an excellent read about a service dog and about the challenges for people living with post-traumatic stress disorder - PTSD. Tuesday is a golden retriever with his own difficulties who came to live with a disabled veteran. This book also touches on the process of training of service dogs. I loved this book.
