Synopsis

"Submerged is romantic suspense that will keep you up at night!"
--Bestselling Author Dee Henderson

A sabotaged plane. Two dead deep-water divers.

Yancey, Alaska was a quiet town...until the truth of what was hidden in the depths off the coast began to appear.

Bailey Craig vowed never to set foot in Yancey again. She has a past, and a reputation--and Yancey's a small town. She's returned to bury a loved one killed in the plane crash and is determined not to stay even an hour more than necessary. But then dark evidence emerges and Bailey's own expertise becomes invaluable for the case.

Cole McKenna can handle the deep-sea dives and helping the police recover evidence. He can even handle the fact that a murderer has settled in his town and doesn't appear to be moving on. But dealing with the reality of Bailey's reappearance is a tougher challenge. She broke his heart, but she is not the same girl who left Yancey. He let her down, but he's not the same guy she left behind. Can they move beyond the hurts of their pasts and find a future together?

    Great Christian suspense!

I really enjoyed this book! It is the first book in the Alaskan Courage series. So in this book, the McKenna family is introduces. They are a great family; they own a diving shop in Yancey, Alaska and help on rescue missions. This first book in the series is centered around Cole, the oldest of the five siblings. When the plane on which her aunt was crashes, Bailey, Cole's first love, returns to Yancey. She only plans on staying a week for the funerals and selling her aunt's Russian antiques shop. But when a body is discovered, Bailey seems to be the only one who can actually help resolve the mystery surrounding the death. This book is a perfect mix of suspense and romance. I love how the relationship between Cole and Bailey evolves and how even if the book is centered around Cole's story we still get to know his siblings. I would recommend this book to everyone who likes suspense novels. And if you're new to the series make sure to read this one first because it really introduces all the characters and Piper's story (second novel).

    Enjoyable Read

I thoroughly enjoyed this first book in the Alaskan Courage series. I enjoy a book that has both suspense and romance, it is difficult to find, as I find it is either too heavy on the romance or too graphic on the gore of the crime. Submerged has a delicate balance of both romance, suspense and mystery. And of course, I love the Christian values that are added. I appreciate that the characters struggle with their walk with God, and not everyone is perfect. Some of the values and lessons learned can be applicable to our lives.

    Exciting from start to finish.

The author did a great job of pairing this adventure story with its beautiful setting. Having read the synopsis, I knew that this would have some sort of mystery to it, but I was pleasantly surprised to read of the Russian historical aspect of this book. Although a work of fiction, Pettrey used real facts to blend in and create a family connection to the characters. Submerged features a wonderful cast of characters with storylines that set the stage for future books. I became so caught up in Submerged that I just wanted to keep reading and reading. It was an adventurous story from start to finish that kept me guessing. I can’t wait to read the next book in the Alaskan Courage series. I would recommend this series to people who enjoy reading adventurous Christian fiction.
