Synopsis

From a dazzlingly talented young writer, a haunting and original supernatural romance in the vein of TWILIGHT. For years, Grace has watched the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed wolf--her wolf--is a chilling presence she can't seem to live without. Meanwhile, Sam has lived two lives: In winter, the frozen woods, the protection of the pack, and the silent company of a fearless girl. In summer, a few precious months of being human . . . until the cold makes him shift back again. Now, Grace meets a yellow-eyed boy whose familiarity takes her breath away. It's her wolf. It has to be. But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay human--or risk losing himself, and Grace, forever.

    Paranormal romance

Grace and Sam are star crossed lovers. One a wolf and the other a girl. Except the wolf has become human one last time and the girl should have been just like him. Grace was once bitten and saved by Sam but for reason she never turned like he did. Ever since that day Grace has watched out her window for the wolf who saved her until a human with the same eyes shows up at her door shot by hunters trying to rid the forest of wolves. It seemed to Grace like the best thing that could have happened to her until she realizes Sam's days as a human are numbered. But are they? The tragic nature of their relationship helps to create romantic tension between the characters right from the start. Every page has an underlying feeling of sadness and loss even when they are together. The author also creates an interesting contrast in the characters' relationships with their parental figures. The characters are well developed and you truly feel their pain. This book is very well written and a great read. It was very hard to out down.

    Loved it!

I've read this book a few years ago and I really enjoyed it. Even now that I'm re-reading the series it still captured my attention as it did before. I totally recommend this book to anyone that's willing to give it a go!

    Great Read

Easy read for all. I read this on the recommendation of a Twilight fan site writer. It may have a couple of parts too mature for pre-teens and teems, but is otherwise a fascinating book. The author's sequel to this, "Linger," is a good book as well, but not nearly as captivating as "Shiver." Definitely worth the read!
