Synopsis

The #1 New York Times bestselling first-person account of the planning and execution of the Bin Laden raid from a Navy SEAL who confronted the terrorist mastermind and witnessed his final moments.

From the streets of Iraq to the rescue of Captain Richard Phillips in the Indian Ocean, and from the mountaintops of Afghanistan to the third floor of Osama Bin Laden’s compound, operator Mark Owen of the U.S. Naval Special Warfare Development Group—known as SEAL Team Six—has been a part of some of the most memorable special operations in history, as well as countless missions that never made headlines.

No Easy Day puts readers alongside Owen and his fellow SEAL team members as they train for the biggest mission of their lives. The blow-by-blow narrative of the assault, beginning with the helicopter crash that could have ended Owen’s life straight through to the radio call confirming Bin Laden’s death, is an essential piece of modern history.

In No Easy Day, Owen also takes readers into the War on Terror and details the formation of the most elite units in the military. Owen’s story draws on his youth in Alaska and describes the SEALs’ quest to challenge themselves at the highest levels of physical and mental endurance. With boots-on-the-ground detail, Owen describes several missions that illustrate the life and work of a SEAL and the evolution of the team after the events of September 11.

In telling the true story of the SEALs whose talents, skills, experiences, and exceptional sacrifices led to one of the greatest victories in the War on Terror, Mark Owen honors the men who risk everything for our country, and he leaves readers with a deep understanding of the warriors who keep America safe.

And look for NO HERO, the follow-up to NO EASY DAY, coming May 2014.

Good book

No one can ever really truley appreciate what these men do for us, unless they have someway or another; experianced what they have experianced. This book walks you through what these men went through as they took down the man behind 9/11.It also shows truth of what happened, not what the media said happened. Modern day media, they make up stories based on a rumor and display it as a fact for millions of impressionable people to see and instantly believe. I am glad this book was written so people can know what actually happened, and it was very well written. Thank you.

a detailed account about the mission which breaks all conspiracies about how osama bin laden was killed. after reading this book, instead of being interested in the entire bin laden mission i was more amaze by what actually were the navy seals and what was their training like. This book became more like a navy seal tell it all kind of biography which involved a mission call capturing osama bin larden. If you somehow didn't like reading about warfare, guns and more high tech equipments that the navy seals used it probably would be better to just watch the movie "Zero Dark Thirty" but i enjoyed both.

Excellent

It's always great reading a first hand account, especially from someone with a great deal of integrity. Even if only half of what is in this book was true (and I believe it's a lot higher than that) it would still be an incredible read. So much respect for these guys that do what so many of us can't even imagine. Thanks to them, we can sit on in our easy chairs, scotch in hand and read about what greater men than us have done. Thank you Mr. "Owen" and thanks to all the brave men and women that protect us every day.

This is a huge inspiration. I, I just do t know what to say. Reading this book was so amazing in the whole story just put me in awe. The story of how Seals sacrificed their lives is truly breathtaking. I will pray for all that have been involved and all that have/will be affected by these missions.

Not a bad book. The author's style leaves a bit to be desired but for a guy who has spent the last 11 years killing people and has no experience writing I think he did an okay job. Its my understanding that the author was quite limited in what he could disclose and that def shows. Its too bad we will never get the whole story behind this thing. With that said, if you are wanting to learn more about these events or want a quick and fun read you'll enjoy this.

Nice intro to the life as a SEAL. Full of pride but not proud or boastful. This is not a story about killing Osama, but life of a SEAL member who happen to be at the right place at the right time.

Very well written account of the Navy SEALS and the take down of Osama bin Laden without the media spin. These guys actually do things young men dream of doing. Could hardly put the book down.

Awful.
March 8th, 2013
This book was written by someone who can't differentiate the reality of war from the fairy tale painted by the military. Thus it is a book with technical details about missions and stuff. Don't expect, however, to find any analysis for the Iraq and Afghan wars or how the execution of UBL changed anything. Just awful.

Truly insightful
February 10th, 2013
This book portrays the take down of UBL in very different way as to what has been portrayed by the media. The pains that these men went through and the continuing stress of training are a real eye opener. An excellent read that kept me on the edge of my seat.
