Synopsis

As he is driving home from a minister's conference, Baptist minister Don Piper collides with a semi-truck that crosses into his lane. He is pronounced dead at the scene. For the next 90 minutes, Piper experiences heaven where he is greeted by those who had influenced him spiritually. He hears beautiful music and feels true peace. Back on earth, a passing minister who had also been at the conference is led to pray for Don even though he knows the man is dead. Piper miraculously comes back to life and the bliss of heaven is replaced by a long and painful recovery. For years Piper kept his heavenly experience to himself. Finally, however, friends and family convinced him to share his remarkable story.

    Faith...

While the Author went through an extremely horrible & life changing car accident, I found the book a little wanting. Of course I'm curious about someone who went to Heaven and came back to tell the tale - who isn't? - but I found there wasn't enough talk about the Author's time "in" Heaven. He speaks a lot about his injuries, his slow & painful recovery and how he now reaches out to others who have to live a life with pain. This is very noble of him. Personally, I would have liked to hear more details about Heaven.

This book needs a different title

When I finally reached the end of this book, I felt very happy for Rev. Don Piper for having survived such a horrific ordeal and the inspiration he has offered to many is very touching. I was bitterly disappointed by he fact that he refers often to speaking about his time in Heaven, titles the book about his time there, and as I drew closer to the end of the book, I found myself incredibly disappointed that he didn't include a description of his journey and time there. I've read several detailed books which reveal the beauty of heaven and Christ, these descriptions changed my life. I was seeking a refreshing description of that when I purchased this book. Unfortunately I never received it.

    Wonder

I read this and it gives me hope at hearing what heaven is like. I have been a Christian for 6 years and I listen and read testimonies of heaven and hell, and I know they say if you except Jesus into your heart you are saved and going to heaven, but I don't know for sure if I'm going to heaven, hell, or Purgatory.
