Ulysses by James Joyce is a novel that tells the story of Leopold Bloom during an ordinary day of his life in Dublin (16 June 1904). The novel alludes to the Odysseus of Homer (Ulysses in Latin), and there are a number of parallels in the events that happen. Ulysses uses Joyce's stream of consciousness style and is full of puns and cultural allusions, parodies, experimental prose and rich humour. It is rightly considered to be a Modernist masterpiece.
