Hell on earth.

That’s what it’s like for Luce to be apart from her fallen angel boyfriend, Daniel.
It took them an eternity to find one another, but now he has told her he must go away. Just long enough to hunt down the Outcasts—immortals who want to kill Luce. Daniel hides Luce at Shoreline, a school on the rocky California coast with unusually gifted students: Nephilim, the offspring of fallen angels and humans.

At Shoreline, Luce learns what the Shadows are, and how she can use them as windows to her previous lives. Yet the more Luce learns, the more she suspects that Daniel hasn’t told her everything. He’s hiding something—something dangerous.
What if Daniel’s version of the past isn’t actually true? What if Luce is really meant to be with someone else?
The second novel in the addictive FALLEN series . . . where love never dies.

I found myself rather frustrated with this story. I was frustrated right along with the main character, Luce, which I suppose is how I was supposed to feel. But grr anyway. Why won’t anyone tell this girl what the hell is going on! Especially at the end when she needs to make a choice. How is she supposed to make a choice without all the information? She actually has very little information to go on. Ugh. There are so many things that we are left wondering about at the end of this book it’s ridiculous. Are we ever going to find out? It’s also frustrating how Luce doesn’t ask many questions. I mean, she’s completely left in the dark about all of these seemingly important things, yet she doesn’t try nearly as hard as she should to get the answers. She does ask the odd question. But she’s surrounded by people who know more than her and just doesn’t try very hard to get answers from them. At least, not as hard as I would try. There were a lot of instances where I saw a perfect opportunity to ask, but she just let it go. Argh. Having said all of that, I did enjoy the story. Even though it frustrated me. I felt so frustrated because I am genuinely curious to know what’s going on! The captivity factor wasn’t all the way there, but it was enough to keep my interest. There are a few new characters in this book as well. Mainly Luce’s two newest friends, Miles and Shelby. I’m still not sure how I feel about Shelby. I’m not sure if she’s being completely honest with Luce, and something just seems off about her. Miles, however, I adore. He is a great new addition to the series. Miles is a caring friend, who right off the bat befriended Luce with no alterior motives. He was simply being kind, not caring that she was Luce Price like everyone else. I’m not sure about Daniel. I do like him, I think. But I also feel like we still don’t really know him. I guess I’m having the same struggles that Luce did throughout the book. I’m somehow drawn to him, but I’m really questioning him at the same time.
