Like most poker players starting out, I also dreamed of making it big in the Texas Hold'em poker tournament world and quitting my day job. However, after a sour dose of reality in the form of inconsistent results and a severely depleted bank account, I decided to sit back and re-think my approach. This book details how I devised a statistical system of bankroll management that would keep me profitable in the long run, how I went about upgrading my actual game-play skills, how I analyzed my performances at the table, and finally, how I adopted a psychological system of thinking about this little career of mine from my day trading experience... all without having to quit my day job!

The book is divided into four parts. Each part deals with a specific phase of my journey:

* PART 1 - MENTALITY AND OBJECTIVES, deals with my beginnings. Most novice, intermediate, and even some advanced poker players might find a lot of parallels with my journey.

* PART 2 - THE PLAN: [Contains the framework for a statistical approach to bankroll management in tournament play, online or at live tables]
I drew on my derivatives trading experience to draw up a logical statistical model as to how I would approach the game in the long term.

* PART 3 - EXECUTION AND GAME-PLAY: [Contains actual sit-n-go tournament performance data as per the theory laid out in Part 2]
My assumptions were clear and my expectations realistic. After a while I realized that my actual decision-making at the table needed to improve. This required poker theory education from external sources and assigning some structure to my thought process at the table - topics which I have not covered in great detail because it would be overkill, as there is so much related information out there in the poker print-media. I have referenced some great sources of information as relates to each category, however. Once I began to see some profits over a string of games there was no looking back, but the journey was still very rocky.

* PART 4 - PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS AND MENTAL ASSESSMENT: [Contains an adapted model of psychological assessment of a typical poker career.]
Finally, I realized that a key part of improving my game-play and identifying my strengths and weaknesses was going to come from tracking how I played. I began tracking various types of data during and after a game. After a while, I adopted and modified a psychological system of assessing where I was in the poker career from my derivatives trading regimen.

It is my hope that this book will be able to help the budding poker tournament/sit-n-go enthusiast by serving as a guide to effective bankroll management and a disciplined approach to long term tournament play, be it a part-time or full-time pursuit.

This book is NOT for people who are looking for a "get rich quick scheme" or some sort of a "killer strategy" that will guarantee a win in every tournament. For more details, refer to the "Preface" by downloading a free sample first.
