Synopsis

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

Powerhouse author Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum novels are “as entertaining as ever” (Entertainment Weekly), “brilliantly evocative” (The Denver Post), and “making trouble and winning hearts” (USA Today).

Stephanie Plum has her sights set on catching a notorious mob boss. If she doesn’t take him down, he may take her out.

New Jersey bounty hunter Stephanie Plum knows better than to mess with family. But when powerful mobster Salvatore “Uncle Sunny” Sunucchi goes on the lam in Trenton, it’s up to Stephanie to find him. Uncle Sunny is charged with murder for running over a guy (twice), and nobody wants to turn him in—not his poker buddies, not his bimbo girlfriend, not his two right-hand men, Shorty and Moe. Even Trenton’s hottest cop, Joe Morelli, has skin in the game, because—just Stephanie’s luck—the godfather is his actual godfather. And while Morelli understands that the law is the law, his old-world grandmother, Bella, is doing everything she can to throw Stephanie off the trail.

It’s not just Uncle Sunny giving Stephanie the run-around. Security specialist Ranger needs her help to solve the bizarre death of a top client’s mother, a woman who happened to play bingo with Stephanie’s Grandma Mazur. Before Stephanie knows it, she’s working side by side with Ranger and Grandma at the senior center, trying to catch a killer on the loose—and the bingo balls are not rolling in their favor.

With bullet holes in her car, henchmen on her tail, and a giraffe named Kevin running wild in the streets of Trenton, Stephanie will have to up her game for the ultimate takedown.

BONUS: This edition includes an excerpt from Janet Evanovich's Top Secret Twenty-One.

OK book, not great. Cute might be a better word. Frankly, it is time for Stef to give Morello the boot. Give Ranger a shot. At least Stef seems to realize it may be time to move on. P

OK reading. Expected more from a seasoned author such as Evanovich. But, the book met its purpose by being a light read.

Have always enjoyed Ms. Evanovich's books and enjoyed this one as well, but it isn't the page turner that some of her books are. Nothing really happened to progress the story line.

Takedown Twenty didn't disappoint me! I look forward to each new book in this series and reading about the antics of Stephanie, Lula and the Grammas. The connections between family and the neighbourhood are priceless and I love Bella's "eye". I think every woman has had a family member of their man's that you can't get along with no mattter how hard you try! This book highlights the importance of protecting family members regardless of the circumstances with the lengths that Joe's mother, grandmother and his cronies will go to protect Uncle Sunny. A great read!

Always enjoyable! This one did not seem as 'meaty' as some of Evanovich's other Plum novels but if you don't laugh out loud at their escapades, you are doing something wrong! Doubt Janet could ever disappoint. Bring on Book 21!

That Stephanie girl and her exploits always good for laughs but the storylines need some excitement - maybe a trip out of NJ?? She's predictable but still a funny girl - could she do something we don't expect? A fast read that doesn't involve much thought . . .

A riot, as usual. Stephanie's adventures just get funnier and more absurd. She is still stuck in that lovers triangle and can't decide what, or who, she wants, which is a great fit to her flighty character. Lula is wonderful as always. The books could go on forever, there is so much more adventure to be had and with a friend like Lula as your sidekick, amazing. Someday she may have to decide which man she wants, but that could go on for a while yet also. Number 20, still funny and still awesome!!!

I continue to be an Evanovich and Stephanie Plum fan but they might be at the point of "jumping the shark". A giraffe running free and no one seeing or reporting it...really? Time to make some decisions and move on with the Heist series.

I have found that all the books after number eight have been equal to her Plum shorts in excitement, laughter and romance. Every new book I keep hoping that it will get better but I am disappointed every time...it would be nice if some kind of mystery actually happened like her first few books.

Same old Same old! Nothing new in the story....except a giraffe. It would be nice if Janet would finally make Stephanie choose which guy she wants and end this series. I have been getting these books from the library since book 16. I will keep getting them from the library just so I can see who she ends up with. I did get a few lol moments so there is that just not like it used to be at the beginning when there were several lol moments.

Leave it to Ms. Evanovich to fit a giraffe into this mystery. However, as usual Stephanie and Lula take us for a hilarious ride that incorporates a "mad butcher" and other comical characters. Stephanie's grandmother adds true drama and her and Stephanie's rescue again brings my favorite hunks Ranger and Joe in harmony to save their mutual love and/or sex interest. Great reading. Among other things I screamed when my favorite bounty hunter duo barged in on a person of interest and his girlfriend took shots at them. Hysterical from beginning to end!

Same old, same old
November 27th, 2013
Much like most of the other books in the series it's the same old can't make a decision about two men with different fugitives to catch. This book didn't hold me in suspense or have any super funny moments. I feel like the series is being milked for all it's worth and dragging out. Time to call it a day. Janet Evanovich is a very talented writer and I really enjoy her books but this is starting to feel like the band you loved for so many years selling out and making ear bleeding crap music. If there are anymore books in this series they will definetly not be on my to read list. Flat out dissapointed.
