Vietnam, Christmas, 1968. Even as American troops pour into the country, Vietnam is fast becoming a war without a cause. In some quarters, strategies to buy time and avoid blame begin to emerge. American commanders find themselves under enormous pressure to report any kind of victory, whatever the risks. Based on a true story, Free Fire follows a Navy river patrol boat crew on a mission driven as much by twisted military politics as by the brave chance they are willing to take to rescue a downed pilot held in hostile territory by Viet Cong guerillas.
