News correspondent Michael Nicholson went to Sarajevo to report on the horrors of the Bosnian War, but ended up smuggling one little girl away from the carnage.

Natasha’s Story is the heart-wrenching account of how the TV reporter risked everything to bring a nine-year-old orphan home with him, and gave her a new life 1,000 miles from her native land.

The true story, which went on to become the award-winning film Welcome to Sarajevo, is both an indictment of the horror and futility of the Bosnian War and a tribute to one girl’s courage.

Bought up to date with brand-new material and recent photographs, Natasha’s Story is released as an ebook for the first time to mark the 20-year anniversary of her rescue from Sarajevo – an event that made headlines around the world.

Natasha's Story: Michael Nicholson Rescued A 9-Year Old Orphan From Sarajevo

A lot of background info, but...
December 9th, 2013
I would have liked more if this book focused more on Natasha instead of politics of the Bosnia war. This book seems to focus more on the politics of the war, surely once Natasha is in the UK. I however do realize that Michael Nicholson wanted to protect the privacy of Natasha by not going into too much detail about her new life there. Overall, a well written book and surely recommended for those who saw the movie "Welcome to Sarajevo", since the movie is based on this book. Being connected to Bosnia by blood bonds and having family members who to this day, still suffer from PTSD from this war, especially the parts about the concentration camps were hard to read for me.
