Mordecai has discovered his heritage and must take up the mantle of a lord of the realm, while figuring out what it really means to be a mage of the line of Illeniel. He is beset on both sides by allies and enemies trying to control or destroy his future. Gods and kings both seek to manipulate him for their own ends, and no matter what he chooses his loved ones will suffer. Will he risk destroying his love with a bond that might be her death, or face the madness that comes to wizards who embrace power without restraint?

I liked this book. The dry humour of mord retelling his story... The pearls of wisdom layered about. Very pleasant all and all. Getting the next one now

Great second book in the series. Anxiously awaiting the next one. Great story that continues with amusing dialog that makes me laugh out loud, all by myself.

Another fantastic read

This second book in Michael Manning's book has many different and unexpected actions and surprises. The fight scenes were very well executed and described. I could get an excellent image of the characters, their clothing and weapons. The surrounding scenery both inside and outside the castles formed an accurate picture in my head.

I have rarely taken a liking to authors that started after the new century but mageborn has been a great read. +1
