Synopsis

Let My Soul Bare is a fictional work that is based partly on the life of Karlene Stewart. The character Anita Thorne-Lewis examines the statement “you’re the enemy in this family,” which was told to her by her mother over a decade earlier. Anita, who was given away by her biological mother at the age of four years old, reminisces on her life’s journey from the day her biological mother gave her away. She reflects on the emotional struggles she had with her adopted mother and how that rocky relationship affected her overall life. The mistakes she made in love and in sex at an early age floods her mind now at the age of thirty.

Anita experiences some happiness and some success along the way, which she views as a happier ending to her beginning. Nonetheless, she acknowledges that she still feels the void, that ache in her heart from not knowing her biological family.
