Review: The Steele Brothers #1: Catch Me

Catch Me by Jennifer Probst is the first book in her newly re-released serial, Steele Brothers. We start this great series off with Rick Steele and Tara Denton. Rick thought he was in love but when he caught his fiancé cheating he closed himself off from that kind of pain. His friend refers him to an exclusive matchmaking agency and while he is skeptical he awaits their call and goes through with the meeting they set up for him. Tara fought a hard battle to get where she is - free, alive, no longer under any man's control, and no longer a victim. She decides she has one lat hurdle to overcome - to know that she can - before she signs off on her recovery and renewal as complete, she needs to be with a man and not be petrified. When these two meet the sparks are instantaneous but they are both so cautious. They both recognize something in the other that the truly can relate to and enjoy each other so much - but this was only about one night. Will they make it past dawn, together? Or is this one night all they have? A quick read packed full of steam and hottness. Very well-paced with enough story to satisfy but not too much that it drowns this serial novella in the pits of trying too hard. I loved it - Can't wait for more Steele brothers.

Steamy start to the Steele Brother's series!

This is the first of 4 titles in the Steele Brother's series, and is a re-release of already existing tales, but with updated content and covers. Besides the link of the brothers, they all end up getting an invitation via Fanta -C, an upscale dating agency of sorts that plans one night affairs between two people with compatible interests. This novella features Rick and Tara. Rick's been avoiding female companionship lately after a cheating ex, but given the card for Fanta-C, decides to take advantage of the no strings attached one night stand it offers. When he meets Tara, a woman who is getting over an abusive ex, he is instantly drawn to her. They spend a steamy night together, but Tara is clear that that's all it's going to be. What I really appreciated about this story was how Rick, while being a dominant personality, was clearly able to understand that Tara wouldn't be ready at this time in her life for developing a more personal relationship with him. He gave her the time she needed to get her feet under her again, after showing her that she was worthy of being in a relationship, both sexually and emotionally. When they do finally reconnect after a few months, she's in a better frame of mind and heart for pursuing things with him, and his patience and understanding were worth the wait for her. It was a quick, sexy read and I'm looking forward to more of this series!

    Catch Me

This was one of the worst books I ever read. It was so simple. It feels like an unfinished story. So predictable. I wish I could get my money back.

    Quite a good short read

I quite enjoy Jennifer Probst books so of course I was all for reading this series by her. One of the things, I loved was that the stories are short reads and are perfect for a relaxing night at home. Even though, this is a short story it has everything to make it an interesting and complete read. It is romantic, hot, heartbreaking and full of hope. Rick has been hurt in the past and the consequences nearly destroyed his life. So his mistrust towards women is quite understandable. But that changes the second he sees Tara. She spins his world around and makes him realize that he will do everything in the world to make her feel safe and happy. But Tara's past is a nightmare that she barely escaped alive and her trust in people, and especially men, is quite thin. But Rick is different and he manages to weave his way into her heart without her even realizing it. What these two broken people find in each others' arms is something special but the rocks on their way to HEA are quite difficult to overcome. So in a few words, this is quite a good read and I am definitely recommending it if you are on the look for a short read with some pretty hot scenes ;) This review was originally posted at Living In Our Own Story Book Blog. I received an ARC of the book in exchange of an honest review.

    Darkly sexy....

Have just finished reading Catch Me. Jennifer Probst has created a story that is a little bit darker than some of the books I have read previous. Tara uses sex as a way to escape a hurtful past. It allows her for a moment to feel wanted and experience human tough but it also gives her the chance to set boundaries in other areas of her life. Rick is seeking companionship as well as a chance to move on from a heartbreaking betrayal. What started out purely physical became a bond that ended up stronger than either one expected. I received a copy of Catch Me in exchange for an honest review. Catch me is a book that uses inner struggle, steamy situations and precise wondering to tell a story of facing fears and making difficult choices on the pathway to becoming a better and stronger person.
