Not as fast paced as Joanna Brady Mysteries by JA Jance that I love, but I enjoy reading mysteries that give detailed sceneries in other countries since I don't travel. Like Peter James's Roy Grace novels centered in Brighton and Hove in England, I enjoyed Gillian Galbraith's mystery set in Scotland, and used Wikipedia to look up and see the locations, architecture & bridges and rivers, etc. What some might find boring in this story (even the character herself was bored with complete details) was medical testimony, but I used to work transcribing medical depositions for court reporters, so even that held my personal interest! Not really "slow paced" though for British/Scottish mysteries. If you enjoy T.V. series Elementary about the present day descendant of Sherlock Holmes solving mysteries in New York City, I think you'll enjoy personalities of the detectives in Ms. Galbraith's mysteries.

Another easy read, somewhat predictable ,and it reminds me not to buy another by this author with so much better things to read. Try some Nordic noir if you want something to stimulate the neurons
