Synopsis

This is her shot.

Brit has the chance to make history by being the first female goalie to play for an NHL team, the San Francisco Gold. So, when she is introduced to Stefan, the Gold's captain, she is determinedly not interested.

Stefan is sexy, charming, and has a publicly documented list of conquests a mile long. Brit is unwilling to risk mixing business with pleasure, even when that business is wrapped up in a six-foot-plus, gorgeously muscled package.

When management pushes Brit and Stefan together in an effort to gain good press for the beleaguered team, Brit finds that her carefully calculated disinterest doesn’t mask her body's desires. The more she falls for Stefan, the more she risks her career.

Will she be able to have it all—a starting position and the heart of the captain? Or will she lose everything?

Genre-bending Sports Romance

I am not kidding when I say I enjoyed this book so thoroughly that I neglected to get enough sleep in order to read the first half, then didn't do much of anything the next day while I finished reading. OK, that's not entirely true because I did organize a bookshelf, but thanks to narration I was technically still reading at the same time. Blocked reminded me why I enjoyed watching hockey with my Dad so much when I was younger (yeah we were in Dallas so we had the Starz but they had a time when they were pretty good about 16-18years ago! lol) It's an intensely competitive sport and fights often break out. I've never really gotten a behind the scenes look until I read this book. Elise Faber has poured a lot of herself into this one, being a hockey player and fan too, and I greatly enjoyed the wealth of information that was provided to enhance the reader's experience. Plus, Brit is the kind of girl I want to be best friends with. Stefan was...*fans self*... a book boyfriend like no other, he had the typical male thoughts but a totally unusual, and most admirable, reaction and way of handling certain situations. There were some dark parts to the story that added depth without being triggering, though for some people they still might be uncomfortable, so be warned about the fact that you might experience some feels. I definitely did. Blocked not only made hockey sexy, it made me feel like I was in the thick of it all- action, romance, drama and life lessons included. Grab your copy and hold on tight! ***heat alert level 4-- get a cold towel fer ya neck*** So basically I can not decide I am so back and forth between 4 and 4.5 stars on this one, just grab yourself a copy and enjoy! ***arc provided for my honest opinion***

Wow!

I absolutely loved this story I started last night and finished it this morning! It's was fast paced, heart touching, funny and wonderful! I couldn't put it down! Brit has made it on to the men's NHL team, because of her skill as a goalie and she becomes a valuable player to her team the Golds, but her attraction to the captain Stefan can't be stifled will she risk her heart and let love in or will the obstacles stand in her way!!? You'll have to see!! What I can say was it was amazing!! :)

Hockey +Romance = Outta. This. World.

Elise Faber is at it again!! After reading and falling in love with the characters in her Phoenix series it was an easy decision to pick up Blocked. Being a hockey player myself I just had to get my hands on a copy. The interwoven crossover between Brit and Stefan was brilliant! To get to know two different characters so deeply, to hear their inner thoughts as their stories progressed. I found myself entranced by the molten hot chemistry as the two felt something they'd never experienced before. As I was reading, I became immersed in their lives. I could picture each scene, see the facial expressions of each character. I would be interrupted by real life and it would take me a good 30 seconds to come out of the book. The hockey puns were glorious and the character development was seamless. I eagerly await the next installment of Blocked, just as I do for the Phoenix series. Thank you Elise, you truly are a magnificent writer. I hope many more readers get to fall in love with your characters as I have done.

Oh Puck It All....

Oh puck it all...This is my first sporty book I have ever read and what a way to start. Bravo Elise Faber for a riveting story that had me laughing out loud and crying for Stefan and his mother as well as Brit and her past experiences. There are even a few characters I wanted to strangle. This story was very entertaining and kept me intrigued. I had no knowledge about hockey, and I have come away with a small understanding of the game and the grueling work players must go through to be prepared. This was a great story of love, action, devotion, pain, and unintended betrayal. Do not pass this up great read!!

A different take on hockey! I really liked it!
February 25th, 2016
***I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are 100% my own. *** We meet Brit as she’s entering her first day with the San Francisco’s NHL team, Golds. She is nervous being the first female player to make it to the NHL. She’s hoping to make a good impression on them and make her dreams come true. This is when she meets team captain, Stefan. He’s a hard worker and really level-headed on the ice. He might not be the best player in the league, but he’s a good captain. And he likes to play within the rules, even if he wanted to bend them for Brit. There are things beyond either of their control that might make or break their relationship as well as the team. Many secrets that need to be told before any real progress can be made. I liked these main characters, they felt like people you’d know or would like to get to know. I also love a few of the side characters. I really liked Diana and Max and Dan. This book read much faster than I thought it would and I just wanted more from everything. More side character development, more knowledge on the back stories. Just more! Is that a bad thing? I would think not. Ms. Faber has already established herself as an amazing world builder as well as an amazing character developer. She’s already informed us that this is a part of the series, but each story is a standalone. Ms. Faber has yet to disappoint me with anything that she’s put out so far. (Not that I’m looking for her to!) So would I recommend this book? Yes, I would. It’s an interesting perspective on hockey, which I’m unfamiliar with, but seems she is QUITE well versed in.

Brit has finally made it, she’s worked her whole life at being the first female in the NHL and now she there playing for the San Francisco Gold. Enter in smoking hot Captain of the Gold Stefan. When Brit’s career is threatened, Brit must do what management asks and play nice for the cameras and fake an attraction and relationship with the charming captain but with one catch, he cannot know. Playing the role is a lot harder for Brit as she really is attracted to Stefan and is truly forming a bond with him. Stefan has had a rough go he’s been taking care of his sick mother, when Brit arrives on the team he can’t fight the growing attraction he has to her. When secrets are revealed will these two be able to make it work? Blocked is an amazing read that will have you hooked from the very beginning. Elise Faber’s magical writing sucks you in and leaves you breathless. Blocked is a must read for every hockey and romance fan!

Hockey, romance, and HEART!! This book has it all
February 25th, 2016
4.5 stars I loved this book! It had hockey, romance, and the characters were some of my favorites! They say "write what you know" and Faber knows hockey, and apparently romance as well! Her passion for the sport really came through every page. I never played hockey, but I LOVE to watch it! I mean I am from Detroit, aka HOCKEYTOWN! Hockey is fast paced and the players are so in tune with one another, most days anyway lol, it's very exciting to watch! The brisk chill from the ice, and passionate fans only amp up the whole experience too. I couldn't even imagine how much more so it must be for the players! And I'd be lying if I said there wasn't a few players that I like to pay extra close attention to *cough Henrik Zetterberg cough* So needless to say a hockey romance sounded A-Okay with me! The best part is it was so well done. A nice slow burn. I really appreciated that Brit and Stefan developed a friendship, and maybe more importantly, a close bond as teammates before things got romantic. That paired with their off the chart chemistry made this a very swoon-worthy read! Okay, so besides the romance, I thought the characters were individually awesome too! Let the Brit gushing commence!! She was such an inspiration! I love a story with a strong woman as a main character. I thought Brit being the first woman to play in the NHL was such a cool story! The way she handled the guys on and off the ice was just perfection. I had had this picture of her in my mind as this ninja-like bada**!! I think stories, and characters like this are so important, and quite frankly I wish that there was more of them! Faber really handled this aspect of the story amazingly as well. From the first awkward locker room incident, to the way the media and lots of people viewed Brit, to the way the team and the coach reacted, and ultimately embraced having a woman be a part of the team. Everything felt so real. I had no problem envisioning these situations being things that a woman would have to deal with under these circumstances. Brit carried herself very well, but also was a perfect person either. She made mistakes, and better yet, she OWNED them when the time came. I was completely in awe of Brit and couldn't help but to root for her. Stefan was a great leading man, as well. At the very beginning I honestly thought that he was going to end up being the typical Alpha male, play-boy, but luckily that's not the way things were. I was so incredibly happy that Stefan ended up being such a good guy. The relationship he had with his mother was enough to warm any heart, and the way he was with his team was truly inspiring. Honestly even the side characters were well fleshed out and interesting, which makes total sense considering there will be more books in this series about them. I am dying to see who the stars of the next book will be. And hopefully see some sweet glimpses of where Stefan and Brit are as well. All in all Blocked was an awesome story! I am now a Gold Hockey fan through and through (right after my first love, the Red Wings, of course) and I can't wait to back in the locker room with these hunks!

Great book!!! I love Elise's characters and I love hockey so I really like this book! I couldn't put it down. Love the romance between Brit & Stefan and I love that Brit is a strong female as the lead. First female in the NHL and as a goalie?! I hope they read this and we get some women in there! I love that it felt like real life. All of it was believable and I just wanted to be Brit in the story! I can't wait for more books in the series with more of the characters I fell in love with!

Excellent!

Elise Faber has once again used her magical words and her downright fun imagination to pull us into her world of amazing characters. In Blocked we are introduced to Brit and Stefan. Brit is a female hockey player who has gotten one step closer to achieving her dream of being in the NHL. Stefan is the captain of the Gold and is a lot more than just a handsome face. Their worlds collide with scandal, attraction, tears, and lies along the way. Teammates they are but their bodies and minds want a hell of a lot more! Riveting, seductive, humorous, and just plain good old sports fun!! Blocked is a sports romance with a twist. If you are a lover of Elise Faber’s work, then you will definitely get a puck out of this one! No pun intended!!!
