Gillian Flynn says, "Karin Slaughter is simply one of the best thriller writers working today."

A small Georgia town erupts in panic when a young college professor is found brutally mutilated in the local diner. But it's only when town pediatrician and coroner Sara Linton does the autopsy that the full extent of the killer's twisted work becomes clear.

Sara's ex-husband, police chief Jeffrey Tolliver, leads the investigation—a trail of terror that grows increasingly macabre when another local woman is found crucified a few days later. But he's got more than a sadistic serial killer on his hands, for the county's sole female detective, Lena Adams—the first victim's sister—want to serve her own justice.

But it is Sara who holds the key to finding the killer. A secret from her past could unmask the brilliantly malevolent psychopath .. or mean her death.

Great read even a second time around
July 18th, 2015
This is the second time I've read Blindsighted by Karen Slaughter (yes that's her real name). I had read all her books a few years ago and while looking for more reading I came across her web site where she talked about her books. It was excellent and inspired me once again to read the books since I had forgotten the details. That said, I experienced the same reading experience as the first time - staying up late because I couldn't put it down, enjoying complex and thorough descriptions of autopsies and pathology. It's suspenseful, a bit gory and detailed about the crimes (which is what I want) and really well written to keep you turning pages. I nearly missed my stop a couple days because I was so caught up in the book. Her characters are complex and interesting--not all of them likeable--but they support the plot really well. I'm now on her second novel Kisscut again for the second time. It's surprising how much you can enjoy re-reading a good book. All her books are great but you'll enjoy them most if you start with her first which is this one in the "Grant County" series.

Ms Slaughter did an excellent job of tying medical terminology, medical jargon, police work and a suspense novel all together. An excellent read that kept me interested the whole way through! Very excited to read the next book in the series!
