A fast-paced story and a good read. The main character, Zeezee, is a little messed up but that just makes her more likeable. I look forward to reading more about her in the rest of the series.

One of the better 'zombie apocalypse' worldviews. (Not quite Max Brooks' caliber, however.) Great scenarios and pretty good dialogue, but I don't think the author knows women as well as he thinks he does. Some of the conversations between Britt and Zora are too inane to be really believable. Either that or Richards only knows incredibly stupid women. And if these women were that dumb they'd be killed by chapter two. Another thing - wonder and wander are not interchangeable words. There are too many errors of this type - Richards needs a proofreader if not an editor. And I am absolutely convinced that two women would not call themselves 'blood brothers' The negatives aside , this book has redeemed itself by drawing historical parallels in the narrative, actively portraying human emotional spectrums, and showing us what the 'herd mentality' devolves into.

Zora(Zee) is a complicated young lady learning to grow up in a zombie infected world full of death and sorrow. Moving into womanhood, trying to reach her lost brother and survive with her only friends, she tries to come to grips with herself and immenent death. A fabulous start to a series, with a cast of characters you will root for throughout the book.
