    The Warden by Anthony Trollope.

I loved this book. It is about humility against coercion, love against avarice, care against confusion and conscience against common sense. I.E. The sense of the common folk. The Warden is a book of human morals written in a Victorian age. And the human condition is in one part described as an alloy; that is a mixture of virtues and foibles. Life is too short to read the play in starkly black and white categories. When Warden Harding does what his conscience tells him he ought in the end of his ordeal, indeed he is free.
