Living in peaceful Shady Vale, Shea Ohmsford knew little of the troubles that plagued the rest of the world. Then the giant, forbidding Allanon revaled that the supposedly dead Warlock Lord was plotting to destory the world. The sole weapon against this Power of Darkness was the Sword of Shannara, which could only be used by a true heir of Shannara--Shea being the last of the bloodline, upon whom all hope rested. The book that started it all
November 5th, 2014
Written in the same style as Lord of the Rings, the Sword of Shannara nevertheless enraptures the reader in its depths. In a way, the Sword is an even greater burden than the One Ring, for the sword requires a change in the person to use, while the One Ring feeds on what is already there.

Loved it!!

Have been trying to get my hands on this series and I finally got to finish book 1! I am so happy, it is such a good book! The Sword of Shannara series has always been one I had hoped to read, and thus far I have yet to be disappointed. :-)

Sword of Shannara

This book was extremely derivative and very poorly written. If J R R Tolkein were still alive he would be suing Brooks, as it is he is probably spinning in his grave. I had a very hard time getting through it but I will not subject myself to another

Great read

I read this first book of the series back in high school and recently had it pop up in my suggested reads. Loved it even more this time around! Can't wait to finish and start the next one.
