Synopsis

"Gillian Flynn is the real deal, a sharp, acerbic, and compelling storyteller with a knack for the macabre." —Stephen King

This collection, available exclusively as an ebook, brings together the first two novels of Gillian Flynn, author of the #1 New York Times bestseller Gone Girl. In Sharp Objects, Flynn’s debut novel, a young journalist returns home to cover a dark assignment—and to face her own damaged family history. With its taut, crafted writing, Sharp Objects is addictive, haunting, and unforgettable. Flynn’s second novel, Dark Places, is an intricately orchestrated thriller that ravages a family's past to unearth the truth behind a horrifying crime. A New York Times bestseller and Weekend Today Top Summer Read, Dark Places solidified Flynn’s status as one of the most critically acclaimed suspense writers of our time.

Dark Places

I had read Gone Girl and thought it was okay. Not good, but rated it a 3. Then looking for another mystery thriller, I decided to buy the package deal of Sharp Objects, Dark Places. A total waste of time and money. Dark Places is the worst. There is little or no mystery. No thrilling suspense. The characters have absolutely no redeeming values. In fact there is nothing likeable about any of them. Everything in the book is gross, disgusting, and horrible. A huge bunch of garbage that I want to throw out. Don't waste your money.

I really enjoyed "Gone Girl" and was excited to find two books in one. Great storytelling showing the darkness of the human mind. I couldn't put it down. A definite must read.

I really enjoyed one of these BUT the heroine of the other I could find no empathy for, as a matter of fact I wanted to slap her silly. :-(

Gone Girl was a great read. Will definitely read another one of Gillian Flynn's novels. She is a good author. The next book I order will be Dark Places.

Excellently exciting thrillers. Leave you on the end of your seat until the very end.An intense mystery writer, that looks deeply into the heart of darkness.

I really liked these books. I had never heard of Gillian Flynn before but I sped through all of them in no time! It was funny too because shortly after starting the first one, I was talking to someone barley reads at all and she was describing one of the books of to a T. Awesome books with a ton of suspense!!!!!!

This book is a brilliant mixture of mystery and horror. As Libby's mind is in a constant state of indecision as she discovers new information, so we, as the reader, are left pondering, trying to second-guess and when we also flash-back to the day leading upto the massacre from both Libby's mom and Ben's perspective, we get even more drawn into the dark desperation and gloom the whole family was barely coping with. The little secrets people hide and the white lies people tell, brings about injustice and violence here

Wow

I read these novels back to back on this past snowy, bitterly cold weekend. I could not stop reading. Great mystery, psychologically disturbing and broken yet likeable main characters. I can't wait to settle in tonight so I can start Gone Girl. These books are some great reading. Ms. Flynn your work is fascinating.

Great way to grab these two books. True to her style popularized by "Gone Girl" these two books delve even deeper in to the damage people can cause themselves and others. It's almost like reading an episode of Law and Order from the other perspective. Intense to say the least.

Sharp Objects is a very dark but intriguing story. One of those books that's hard to put down. Dark Places was also one of those not so happy tales. Both are well written stories. After reading Gone Girl I just had to read more by this author and was definitely not disappointed.

I read Flynns book which I found to be a great read so book this book duo. Could not get through sharp objects but could not put down dark places, very good book! Not sure why I did not enjoy sharp objects, just was not as exciting and harder to get through. Dark places is a definite thumbs up though.

Where does Gillian Flynn come up with this stuff? These books were excellent and so different from anything I have ever read by other authors. Her books are disturbing, but brilliant!
