Synopsis

Defense attorney Mickey Haller returns with a haunting case in the gripping new thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author Michael Connelly.

Mickey Haller gets the text, "Call me ASAP - 187," and the California penal code for murder immediately gets his attention. Murder cases have the highest stakes and the biggest paydays, and they always mean Haller has to be at the top of his game.

When Mickey learns that the victim was his own former client, a prostitute he thought he had rescued and put on the straight and narrow path, he knows he is on the hook for this one. He soon finds out that she was back in LA and back in the life. Far from saving her, Mickey may have been the one who put her in danger.

Haunted by the ghosts of his past, Mickey must work tirelessly and bring all his skill to bear on a case that could mean his ultimate redemption or proof of his ultimate guilt. The Gods of Guilt shows once again why "Michael Connelly excels, easily surpassing John Grisham in the building of courtroom suspense" (Los Angeles Times).

The story had a great flow as all Connelly's books but the ending seemed to be obvious and a little bit forced. Some characters were not completed.

This is a very interesting book about conspiracy and human rights. It shows how an innocent man can be framed for a crime he did not commit by the law system itself.

One of the best Connelly books in a while! Fans will be pleased with the return to suspenseful plot twists and heart-wrenching pathos. Mickey Haller gets a chance to be the good guy - but will it be enough to win back his daughter's love? A "Don't Miss" installment in the Lincoln Lawyer series!

I love reading the Micky Haller series. Once again a well written plot that keeps the reader in suspence while they travel with Micky through his own personal difficulties and his some times, surprising efforts to help others. Good characterisations and story lines. I hope Michael Connelly keeps building on the Mickey Haller series.

A great legal thriller that explores corruption and coping with guilt, both personal and professional. The "gods of guilt" are the jurors on a panel but the great story, interesting characters and the sense of human failure and corruption propel this novel. A compelling read!

Michael Connelly delivers another excellent thriller. The title refers to a jury being "The God's of Guilt" Multiple twists keep you guessing as the primary client becomes secondary to Mickey Haller's himself. His guilt and his need to satisfy his own God's of Guilt, his own personal jury. This was a good fun read that was hard to put down even for a moment.
