Synopsis

The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. Beginning of an Epic Fantasy

Every epic tale begins with one sentence, and that sentence can be found in this particular tome. Written decades ago, 'The Eye of the World' is perhaps the most innocent and boys-in-the-wild-world type of narrative amongst all the books in this lengthy series. Fear not though, for the series has completed despite Robert Jordan's departure. But perhaps because he won't pen another book, I feel this first book that launched the great series deserves special attention. Rand's innocence of the world AND of the women (or lack of DEEP mistrust...though Two Rivers folk already had that division) is somewhat refreshing. And as if the book was written after the series was completed, there are many hints and foreshadows that get picked up in the later series. Simply said, that much thought had gone into creating the first book of 'The Wheel of Time' series. If world building is what you dig, you will be in for some wild and lengthy reading, which is always a good thing when tales are told as great as this one.

    Eye of the World

Great books, I am really excited to read them all again, and all together. In my opinion the characters and setting are on par with Tolkien, and the writing is captivating. A must read for any fantasy fans.
