    The Black Mountain

No Nero Wolfe story could ever be completely awful, but this one comes as close as possible. Although it pulls Wolfe away from the comfort of his brownstone on 35th St, which is always fun, the plot is so convoluted and improbable, that the effect is lost. There is also no real mystery here. The murderer is caught more by chance than any detective work. Overall, an interesting premise, but not one of Rex Stout's better efforts.
