Synopsis

BOOK ONE OF THE FANTASY SERIES RETURN OF THE DRAGONS

Two forms of power - natural and chemical - divide the world. Dragons, who keep the chemical power in check, have long retreated from human sight; few still believe in them. Inside a castle surrounded by Tuscan hills more and more threatened by chemical forces, sixteen-year-old Anders lives a sheltered life. But much as his parents try, Anders can't avoid the forces that threaten...

Fantasy Adventure for All Ages

Eight years ago, when his dying grandfather whispered words of power in his ear, there was already something special about Anders Tomason.

But these days Anders is sick of being special. Forced to study in a locked room when he isn't having lessons, his only escape is daily practice with a staff; he hopes that one day, he'll get to swing a blade.

That day comes on his sixteenth birthday: Anders receives a wooden sword from his blade master, along with two surprises: a mischievous and flirtatious spirit inside the silver handle, and the dance of swordplay to the music of his own blood. Then, that same night Anders is drinking a new tea and burning incense to help him focus on his studies. But he's sick of studying, sick of being locked in. So sick of it, that in anger his blood magic opens a gateway. A girl bursts into his locked study. She has a stolen book of nature magic and a chemical warlock hot on her trail...

Great read!

Enjoyed this book thoroughly and would have gladly given it five stars except that it was just so short. I loved the fact that the hero was a normal teenager instead of some perfect and precocious fantasy youth filled with self confidence at all times. I felt it really made him much more relatable and genuine. Excellent work and I lol forward to reading more!

Felt a little short happy I didn't pay for this one but will read the next one hopefully a better understanding of his magic and blood stuff will come into play. Rather then a intro to it during or after.

Basically we start with a normal kid, with some secrets to him. He's locked up and secluded from the world. He has a rocky relationship with his father, who I believe the author failed with, but his dad is just trying to do his best for him. Just a normal kid, acne and all. 5 minutes later. Activates magic he didn't know he had, meet his dream girl, gets his first kiss, fights off the Dark Lord, okay break. How's the acne? Gone, good. *takes breathe* His bloodline is the ultimate blend of Superman (basically Elves), Batman (basically humans), and Aquaman (merfolk) all put together. Got your first wooden sword today? Fuggetaboutit, take the ultimate sword from the shards of three ancient kings (ancestors). Don't worry about the pommel, you already have an incredibly enchanted one that makes you thebestwarriorever. You already know every language, mental trick, spell, etc. that you could possibly need. Just be in any situation and it just pops to the front of your thoughts. I couldn't finish this book. Where's the character development? It's all plot devices and a bit of laziness. A big struggle against good and evil? Pretty sure he'll just become a god and win. Hell, let's just make the Dark Lord bow to his superiority, He's the prince of three royal after all. This book just wasn't for me. However, I must admit that I didn't get too far. Just long enough to realize he'll never actually be presented a real challenge. So... a few chapters.

Sword Bearer- Return of the Dragons

There is no dragons returning in this book. The hero discovered he's a prince and the neighbourhood Dark Lord is his long lost relative. Reminds me of Luke and his dad Vader.

The story at times feel rushed and the rate that the protagonist learn things too conveniently can be quite cliched. Nevertheless, a good book and kudos to the author :)
