Synopsis

From the author of Jurassic ParkTimeline, and Congo comes a psychological thriller about a group of scientists who investigate a spaceship discovered on the ocean floor.

In the middle of the South Pacific, a thousand feet below the surface, a huge vessel is unearthed. Rushed to the scene is a team of American scientists who descend together into the depths to investigate the astonishing discovery. What they find defies their imaginations and mocks their attempts at logical explanation. It is a spaceship, but apparently it is undamaged by its fall from the sky. And, most startling, it appears to be at least three hundred years old, containing a terrifying and destructive force that must be controlled at all costs.

    Suspense and mysteries

I was told that the book was better than the film, and I was not disappointed. It's a great read, engaging. You just can't put the book away. Highly recommended to everyone, who likes some sci-fi, suspense and a touch of thriller.

    He makes scientific subjects exciting

Michael Crichton's talent for taking scientific subjects and spinning them into relatable tales shines in this story. A mystery, thriller, and human story all in one. I'm happy I finally decided to delve into his writing but saddened there are only a few to enjoy! Great writer and unique in his perspective.

I love this book from the first time I read it in the early nineties till now again for the fourth time! I generally don't like scary books but this one is delicious. It is interesting and mind-opening and keeps me thinking for days after.
