Synopsis

"Soy solo palabras but wish to be a city" is a graphic longpoem (that is, one book-length narrative poem illustrated in the style of a comic book) written in Spanglish by León De la Rosa and illustrated by Gui.ra.ga7. Set in the crime-wracked border city Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, this poem explores life in the devastated city through the eyes of an academic and a "superhero" vigilante.

León De la Rosa and Gui.ra.ga7 both lived in Juárez while working on this book, and created a pained and passionate ode to their city, as well as to justice and humanity.
