Synopsis

A New Dakotah Territory Saga From Bestselling Author Lauraine Snelling!

Book 1 of Dakotah Treasures. Author Lauraine Snelling once again takes readers west to the untamed land of Dakota Territory, introducing new characters both unique and appealing. Ruby Torvald and her young sister, Opal, have received an inheritance from their long-lost father who left home years ago to seek his fortune in the Black Hills. When they leave their comfortable situation in Chicago and arrive at the mining town of Medora to claim their inheritance, the sisters discover that rather than the legacy of gold they expected, their father has left them a shocking bequest. Ruby's bold determination in the face of scandal leads the reader on a journey both heartwarming and inspiring.

    Good, not great

I found the characters a likeable mix, and not merely painted good or evil. I would have liked fewer loose ends in the plot, though. I realize this is meant to be continued in the rest of the series, but I felt that few, if any, of the main plot lines were completed in this book, leaving me disappointed.

    Good until the end

I loved the book until the ending that really was disappointing. It feels like there should be a sequel.

    Dakota Treasures

I love following people through these books, which although showing the hardships and pain, celebrate Gods love, presence and provision. However, if you are not a believer but just looking for nice historical fiction these books will not disappoint. I agree that the end was a little rushed and therefore disappointing, and I did get a little irritated by Belles lurking in the background of the story. Belles story was never uncovered either her past or her future

    Ruby

I thought the story was much of a sameness with lots of other books & it was far too long. The last third seemed to meander along aimlessly.
