Great trilogy
February 28th, 2015
In a nutshell: The storyline is excellent. The world created by Brandon and laws of metal are described and illustrated in great detail. Best to read BEFORE " the way of kings" which seems somehow superior to me. But overall a fantastic read and sad that it's all done..... yet another book now 4 has been released with the same concepts yet 300 years later... should be another fun read!

Brilliant trilogy. Particularly enjoyed the upending of Fantasy conventions in this dystopian epic. Sanderson is a master and I can't wait to explore more of his work.

Unique magic system in a unique fantasy world.
November 10th, 2014
Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn Trilogy is a great book for those looking for new, fantasy world to escape into. As the author who helped finish the Wheel of Times series, BS's own fantasy world is nothing to scoff at. True, it doesn't carry on for double digit length tomes, but the characters he developed are no less real and the problems they face are no less world-shaking. Let's talk about the magic system a bit, since that's what Mistborn is all about. When was the last time you read a book about Allomancy, a magic of the metals? In a rare feat, BS has created a completely new magic system with its strengths--and more interestingly--weaknesses. He ties it with other areas to add realism too, like economy, which is a common sense often lacking in other magic systems. In a world where pure metal is difficult to come by for general population, a natural supply and demand will naturally affect and determine who has power and who seeks more. It's definitely an interesting read that gets better as you go through the series.

Loved it. Kelcear broke my heart. Hated the price. Way to wimpy for me to be attracted to. Everything else was fabulous. Extremely thrilling ride. Very satisfying ending.

Adventure with a purpose
October 5th, 2014
Fascinating view of the purpose of religion to mankind. Sanderson tackles the mystery of "faith" and gives a plausible explanation that faith is not religion specific, but is a basic need for all humanity to preserve hope. Great characters and lots of action!

Mistborn

Fantastic! Well realized characters that hold your intrest and compassion. A tale wrought with magic, adventure and heavy religious overtones. You can't help but be drawn in by the fast paced, twisting story that comes to an unexpected but entirely satisfying conclusion. Well worth the read and highly recommended.

I really enjoyed the books although it took me a while to really get in to them. The 'magic' system is really unique and makes for an original concept.

Mistborn Trilogy

Well written fantasy book not just for kids. Story is well thought out and the use of the English language is well done. If you're a lover of Fantasy stories and a mature reader you'll enjoy this book.

The first two books were very good.

The third seemed awkward and forced, and I found myself impatient to get to the end, simply to end it.

Amazing
November 3rd, 2013
Great development of characters and excellent pacing of the books, magic system is neat and down to earth. You never truly know for certain what could happen next since there are so many subtle plot twists and unexpected outcomes. Sanderson could do without as many metaphors and overly descriptive scenes as it kinda gets annoying after awhile.

Captivating series for those who like fantasy! Incredible imagination that creates a whole new world populated with some remarkable characters. Loved it from beginning to end. It was a bit tough going in the third book as the challenges begin to mount but worth it in the end.
