New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Karen chance has written a paranormal—with bite.

Dorina Basarab is a dhampir—half-human, half-vampire. Unlike most dhampirs, though, Dory has managed to maintain her sanity. Now Dory’s vampire father has come to her for help— again. Her Uncle Dracula (yes, the Dracula), cruelest among vampires, has escaped his prison. And her father wants Dory to work with gorgeous master vampire Louis-Cesare to put him back there.

Although Dory prefers to work alone, Dracula is the only thing that truly scares her—and when she has to face him, she’ll take all the help she can get…

I love Dorina!
October 25th, 2015
I was exited to learn that there was a new series based on the Cassie Palmer series world. As usual with this author, the action starts immediately and the book continues to be fast paced. Dorina is a damphir and the daughter of a high ranking senate member. Damphir are not accepted in the vampire world, they are feared. She is trying to locate her missing roommate when her father approaches her for help with a family matter. They do not have a good relationship but, she ends up agreeing anyway. He even sends another high ranking senate member from the European court with her. They immediately start fighting and sparks fly. To capture the renegade she has to overcome debilitating fears from a time long ago. All the while falling in lust with a vampire. A big no no. I highly recommend the Cassie Palmer series and the Dorina Basarab series. I have reread them both many times.

Enjoyed this! But ...

I really enjoyed the characters and plot. However, I found the gratuitous animal torture session with the miniaturized living cattle served for dinner to be very disturbing. :/ Though I'm looking forward to the next book in the series, I'm leary of more such sections. Here's hoping they don't continue, or I won't be buying future books.

Awesome read

Was impressed. Really liked the Cassie Palmer series as well. If you like Laurell K. Hamilton's Merry Gentry and Anita Blake series you would love this as well.
