Synopsis

Commander Jonas Taylor is tasked with piloting the US Navy's most advanced submersible, the DSV Sea Cliff, to the bottom of Challenger Deep — 36,000 feet below the surface — into what is very much an undiscovered country. What he finds there — a remnant population of luminous, prehistoric Megalodons — will change the course of the rest of his life.

In this prequel to his New York Times Bestseller, Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror, Alten sets the stage for the popular suspense series to follow. Fans of Meg will find it a must for offering insight into key characters' backstories, but the novella-length work also stands alone as a bite-sized tale of deep-sea suspense.

    Pretty good prequel

I thought it was a nice beginning to the series, explaining certain events in the first novel. Would definitely recommend it.

    Wow what a prequel

I am a huge fan of the Meg series and was excited to see that Alten had finally published a prequel. It was so exciting finally getting to see what really happened in that fateful dive and all the factors that brought the me gallon into Jonas Taylor's life. Awesome read and thank you for he back story.

    Setting The Stage

As I have already read the entire Meg series by Steve Alten many time's, I wasn't sure if I would find this short novella "Origins" of much interest. I must say that I very much enjoyed Origins as it set the stage perfectly for the series. It was also fast paced and not only gave more insight into the character Jonas but of Angel as well. This novella also left the mind with fantastic questions. Of which the answer's can be found in the series.

    Meg:Origins

Having read all the books in the Meg series previously, this partcular book seemed a bit of a let down. It seems to end in the middle of a thought. I guess that's what prequils are all about. For someone who hasn't read any of the Meg series, it would be a goood starting point.
