"A story to make you believe in the soul-sustaining power of fiction."—Los Angeles Times Book Review

After the sinking of a cargo ship, a solitary lifeboat remains bobbing on the wild blue Pacific. The only survivors from the wreck are a sixteen-year-old boy named Pi, a hyena, a wounded zebra, an orangutan—and a 450-pound royal bengal tiger. The scene is set for one of the most extraordinary and beloved works of fiction in recent years.

Universally acclaimed upon publication, Life of Pi is a modern classic.

Great read, couldn't put it down! Very well written. Although you are left at the end wondering what the real story was. The movie doesn't do the book justice, so if you are thinking you have seen the movie and won't bother with the book then do your self a favour and read the book!

I found this a profound statement on the meaning of belief and faith. I was shocked how little the movie did to convey this core point. The whole line "so it is with God" is completely lost in the movie and it was the best part of the book. If you have to decide on book or movie - get the book one thousand times over.

Unclear and difficult to understand at the beginning, then got easier to read. The words used by the author are sometimes unnecessarily complicated. Overall, great story (the first one :-)

I love the religious views of this book. The unique- ness of Pi to other protagonist in young adult - fiction genre. He is not mainstream and he likes it that way.

I would love to see what Pi does with the rest of his life. Was also waiting for a philosophic/religious conclusion from him that would leave me thinking. Instead I got a quaint ending that made me smirk... Still an enjoyable read that keep me going! Now I'll allow myself to see the movie!
