Synopsis

From internationally acclaimed storyteller Cornelia Funke, this bestselling, magical epic is now out in paperback! One cruel night, Meggie's father reads aloud from a book called INKHEART-- and an evil ruler escapes the boundaries of fiction and lands in their living room. Suddenly, Meggie is smack in the middle of the kind of adventure she has only read about in books. Meggie must learn to harness the magic that has conjured this nightmare. For only she can change the course of the story that has changed her life forever. This is INKHEART--a timeless tale about books, about imagination, about life. Dare to read it aloud.

    IT WAS OKAY

I thoght that inkheart was ok, the part about people coming out of books is in lots of books. Thought i liked capricorn and his men and meggie and her family. Im exicted to read inkspell and inkdeath but i think overall cornelia funke has good imagination.

A truly interesting concept. If you are a fan of fiction, you read with wonder thinking about what character or story will be read from next just to see what characters will be brought to life. The pacing of the novel is okay, but there are a few moments that move slowly and allow for a reader to think about the logic of whether or not this or that is possible. By the end of the novel, it does leave you wanting more in a good way, and I only hope that Inkspell follows up with the potential that this novel started with.

    One of my faves <3

This book is geared towards teens but it remains one of my favorite reads at age 25. Upon reading again for the first time in a couple years the writing isn't quite as strong as I remembered, but that could also partially be due to it being translated (originally written in German). The story, however, is unique and gripping, it's an easy read and if you grew up loving books, you'll enjoy the themes throughout. It's a fabulous escapist read.
