This book was so consuming of my heart. I have never been so enraged in all my life as I was reading this. I am grateful to the author for sharing her story and for enlightening me with what really was happening during the time of slavery. I was also both shocked and embarrassed to learn of the North's involvement and treatment of my people during that time considering they were known as "free states". It hurts to know that people could (and still can) be so cruel for no good reason. And it hurts to see honestly that not much has changed from those times in all actually with the exception of abolishment. Great read and great lesson!
