Get Lucky

A child of Vegas, Brett Hennessey knows about luck--especially the bad kind. But when this poker superstar hops on his Harley to outrun Lady Misfortune and ends up at a pretty B&B run by an even prettier proprietor, he can't help thinking he's stumbled onto a winning streak. . .

Sure, Kirby Farrell's new B&B ski lodge opened to the warmest winter in Vermont memory, but fate brought her a bad boy on a hot bike and settled him into her best room. She's still broke, but the view across the breakfast table has definitely improved. . .

Only now Brett's past has finally caught up to him. He has two choices: run again--and lose the best hand fortune's dealt him yet. Or stay and risk everything for something he never thought would come his way. . .

    Exhausting, long-winded drivel

I’ve read quite a few of Donna Kauffman’s books, the first being Let Me In. I really enjoyed Let Me In, which is why I went on a Donna Kauffman buying binge and bought over 6 books all at once. I started having buyers remorse after the 2nd book when I realized that they are all basically the same long-winded book, just with different characters. To summarize her books Chapter 1 - Boy meets girl. Chapter 2 - Boy attracted to girl but girl is aloof. Chapter 3 - Girl attracted to boy but unsure because she’s been “hurt". Chapter 4 Boy and girl have sex. Chapter 5 - Boy waffles on whether to continue to pursue girl. Chapter 6 - Girl waffles on whether to continue to pursue boy. Chapter 7 - Boy and girl have sex. Chapters 8-10 Repeat of chapters 5-6. Same goes for Chapters 11-13 & 14-16 & 17-19. Chapters 20 and 21 a ridiculous “plot” twist is thrown in just to make it seem there was a point to the story. Giving her books 1 star is very generous. I'm just glad I’m done all her exhausting books. She's is not a horrible writer, in fact she writes beautifully when describing scenery... I just think she's ran out of ideas.
