Synopsis

If you enjoy Elizabeth Peter’s Vicky Bliss series or Romancing the Stone, Elusive has the same mix of mystery, international travel, and light romance.

Zoe Hunter loves living on the edge. Free-spirited and spontaneous, she’s built a life stringing together various freelance gigs that keep her bank account barely in the black.

But when her ex, Jack, goes missing along with several million dollars from his business and the FBI zeros in on her as a person of interest, Zoe’s life goes from delightfully unpredictable to downright frightening.

Plunged into a world of fake identities, deception, and murder, she’s afraid to trust anyone. Zoe impulsively skips town in a search for answers that takes her from Las Vegas to Italy, but instead of tracking down answers, she only uncovers more questions.

Who was Jack? Is he dead or did he fake his disappearance? And, what was he mixed up in—art theft, the mafia, espionage, or all three?

Elusive is well named
November 13th, 2015
I read this book during a time of many interruptions and occasionally wondered if I'd get back to it. But I always did, and in spite of the middling level of character development I was kind of fond of Zoe and Jack by the end, both as individuals and as a couple. They clearly have a strong mental "synch" and I hope they end up together. I'll never find out probably because this is one of those annoying string-alongs where there's little or no sense of closure and you really want to know things that you'll have to buy more books to find out. If I'd known that I wouldn't have bought the first one. There's better writing out there to invest in.

Zoe spends her days freelancing a wide variety of jobs from copy-editing, property management to dog walking, all to avoid a 9-5 lifestyle. When Jack's business partner is found murdered and Jack is the prime suspect. Zoe discovers she didn't know Jack a well as she thought she did - or does she? The story started out very fast and kept my interest till the end of the story. I liked going all everywhere and not staying in one town. It kept you guessing all the time. I have never read this authors books and shall in the future for I like her style and ideas of writing. This author has a very interesting way of telling a story. I can picture these people.

Enjoyed the suspense . Just enough romance without becoming just a romance novel. Plenty of suspense and thrills without becoming gory. Loved the ending leaves me wanting to read more.
