Synopsis

WHERE DARK LYCAN ENDED, DARK WOLF BEGINS...

BOOK NUMBER 25 IN CHRISTINE FEEHAN'S ACCLAIMED CARPATHIAN SERIES

#1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan now delivers her most eagerly awaited novel of all—ten years in the making—in the “the erotic, gripping series that has defined an entire genre” (J. R. Ward).

In Dark Lycan, Christine Feehan journeyed into the heart of the Carpathians, and into the souls of two lifemates stirred by the flush of passion and the threat of annihilation. In Dark Wolf, the breathtaking story continues as the bonds of family are imperiled, and the fate of two lovers lies hidden in the seductive shadows between life and death.

Skyler Daratrazanoff always recognized the miracle that was Dimitri Tirunul, a man beyond any dream that had ever engaged her nights. But she was human. Vulnerable. He was Carpathian. Nearly immortal. She was nineteen. He was an ancient. Yet she held half his soul, the light to his darkness. Without her, he would not survive. Caught between the two warring species, Dimitri has spent centuries hunting the undead to keep his people free, and humans safe. He had survived honorably when others had chosen to give up their souls. But now, marked for extermination by the Lycans, Dimitri found himself alone, and fearing for his life. But salvation was coming…

No Lycan would ever suspect someone like Skyler to dare mount a secret rescue operation. A teenage girl. A human of untested abilities. But she had something no one else had. She was predestined for Dimitri—as he was for her. And there was nothing stronger for Skyler than her desire to see her life-dream come true. Whatever the risk.

Skyler and Dimitri

I had been I had been waiting for this story and, as usual, Christine Feehan delivers more than anticipated. Skyler is a strong heroine who is a match for Dimitri, the romantic hero who will do anything for his soul mate. The dark moment of the story shows that he will go to any length, break every taboo to save her life. A great Carpathian novel.

This is my first Christine Feehan read and although I am kicking myself for not reading the series in order, I was not disappointed in the book. I did feel a little lost when there were so many other characters introduced and not knowing their histories made it difficult to connect with them in the story. I would recommend reading the series in order. The Carpathians and Lycans are on the verge of war. Mikhail, the Carpathian prince and the Lycan council members are working on an alliance but there are those in the Lycan community that feel all mixed bloods are dangerous and should be eliminated. Dimtri, Guardian of all and a mixed blood, is being held hostage by the Lycans and the council assures the prince that Dimitri is being well cared for. In reality, Dimitri has been given a death sentence and is enduring an unbelievably painful torture, unbeknownst to the council. It seems there are traitors among the Lycans and no one is sure who can be trusted. Skyler, Dimitri’s lifemate, along with her two best friends, Josef and Paul, set out to find Dimitri and free him before the Lycans kill him. As the trio begins their journey, the odds seem to be in their favor since everyone they encounter dismisses them as threats because of their youth. Can the trio save Dimitri and get out of Lycan territory with their lives in tact or are their plans doomed from the start? Dark Wolf is a classic love story. Two destined lifemates face insurmountable obstacles in order to find each other. I absolutely fell in love with Dimitri. Finding out his lifemate was so young and terribly scarred from an unthinkable childhood, his faithfulness, kindness and unwavering patience with Skyler is amazing. Dimitri is protective, possessive, supportive and loving and I was swooning every instance he shared page time with Skyler. I also enjoyed the interactions with Josef, Paul and Skyler. They were, undeniably, the comic relief in the story. There’s action, excitement, humor, romance and death-defying love so pure that it can conquer anything. Four Stars for Christine Feehan! ***I received an ebook copy from the publisher via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. All conclusions reached are my own***

Not what I expected.
November 2nd, 2014
I can't write much, otherwise I will ruin the story for someone. I think I expected more or Dimitri, but it was good seeing Skyler in action. I think the chanting got out of hand... too many of those. Maybe I'm a little disappointed because I wanted to read more about carpathians and less about wolves.

In her latest Carpathian book Christine Feehan delivers. I love this series and it's hard to pick a favourite. I really liked how Skyler embraced her skills as mage, psychic and Carpathian all. It was also fun to see another side of Josef. I'm looking forward to his story sometime. The hardest part, as always, is waiting for the next book to be published!

Whenever I read a story written by Christine Feehan, I lose myself in the vivid descriptions of the stories characters. I become involved with the characters as if they were part of my family. All of her books just seem to flow effortlessly from one storyline to the next. They can be read separately or chronologically. This story has expanded the Carpathion story line to link them with the Lycans and the Jaguars. It has opened the way for even more stories to merge together while the characters come alive to us. I can hardly wait for the next story to be told.

This is a great new book in the Carpathian series. Finally we get to the story Skyler and Dimitri, which we have waited long for and was in my opinion well worth the wait. While covering dark and torturous events Feehan is able to sprinkle it with humour and hope. Josef and Paul were the icing on the cake. A delightful read that I had trouble putting down.

Christine Feehan continues to weave her magic and enthrall with her plots that twist and turn - and this book is no different - I love her ability to bring each and everyone of her characters alive within the pages, engaging the reader in such a way that you cannot help but imerse yourself within the Carpathian world while enjoying the continuing story of old friends and making new ones. I look foward to the continuing story

I admit I am biased toward anything Carpathian (love it before reading). With that disclaimer out of the way, I thoroughly enjoyed his book because I found it fleshed out the friendship between the main characters. Personally, I found the friendship aspect of this book more heartfelt than than the love/consummation of Skylar (mostly because we all knew it was going to happen!).

I couldn't put this book down, I have waited a long time for Skye and Dimitri's story and it didn't disapoint. Ms Feehan had gone back to her style of writing in her early books in this series and it was great read. It has renewed my interest in this series and I can't wait for Blood Lycan to come out....

Feehan never disappoints. Waiting for Skyler to grow into a beautiful, gifted woman was worth the wait. Her relationship with the devoted and patient Dimitri is well written with the right mix of romance, humour and adventure and wonderful to see her relationship evolve with her birth father and Ivory. I love the way each book in the series overlaps from the one before and gives an insight into the next. I couldn’t put Dark Wolf down, Skyler and Dimitri’s story is a very special one, considering their pasts.

I've been waiting for this book since we first met Skyler in Dark Legend and it didn't disappoint! I ended up reading it in one night, I couldn't put it down. I loved how in this book it was the human character who surprised both the Carpathians and Lycans. Some very emotional scenes which had me crying and some good action/mage scenes. Also loved that we got to see some more of Ivory and Razvan! Can't wait now for Dark Blood!!

Not bad, but honestly, could the two main characters get any more tricking perfect?? I am getting very tired of characters that have absolutely no flaws and can put together spells that are miraculous even though they have never had any training. When I first started this series the characters were gar more believable. They got angry, they said things they regretted, they weren't perfect. The last bunch of books the characters have all been so perfect I want to slap them!

You might expect that a series that has been going on for so long would slowly become boring. But the opposite is the case. Christine Feehan shows her huge writing talent for not only keeping a series alive, but making it more interesting the more you read. I can wholeheartly recommend this book.
