"my opinion is my opinion"

hard to read book (for me) though its written in a manner that manifest hopefulness and yet at the same time gave an unsentimental assessment of human condition, ideals, and faults.

Back to basics
August 20th, 2013
A fair translation, but of course something is lost in the process. Non-the-less the ideas conveyed are true to form and as timeless as when they were written. The idea that morality is an impediment to truth rings clear, especially through his assaults on the 'Christian' blinders of many of his contemporaries.

A better writer than a philosopher
June 19th, 2013
Although Nietzsche is identified by many as a philosopher, this book convinces me that he is better as a writer than what he is usually known for. I don't find his philosophical process very engaging, but he expresses himself very beautifully. Some if the ideas are dated (such as those pertaining to women) and some make me uneasy (such as those pertaining to German nationalism). Overall a good read, although you might need to do a bit of legwork to get what he may be responding to.
