Synopsis

The bestselling epic first book in the science fiction saga ‘Battle Earth’ is back, and better than ever. Re-mastered and with over five thousand words of additional material. Battle Earth tells of humanity's desperate struggle to survive against an overwhelming alien invasion.

A distress transmission from Mars research colony warns of an advanced and unknown enemy approaching the heavily populated lunar colony. An elite marine unit commanded by Major Mitch Taylor is dispatched to protect the beleaguered civilians. However, the attack is merely a prelude to a massive invasion of Earth.

When the vast enemy mothership smashes through Earth’s atmosphere and deploys in the Atlantic, the armed forces of Earth soon realise they are fighting for the very survival of the human race. As cities fall throughout the world, American and European forces rally together to make a stand as they battle an enemy unlike any they’ve ever encountered.

Battle Earth is a futuristic sci-fi action adventure that chronicles vast and bloody battles following humanity’s first reach into the stars.

OK story but Amateur Writing and No Editing
April 12th, 2015
I found that while this did have the potential to be an interesting human vs alien space-age story, the amateurish writing and lack of grammatical skills distracted me so badly that whatever forward momentum the story may have had was destroyed. It seems that no one edited or proof-read this manuscript before it was published. The writer goes from simply using the wrong words in places (bare instead of bear, creek instead of creak, shear instead of sheer) to not seeming to understand what words to use to describe the action of his characters (I mean, think about it for a minute. You're in combat, and you're "strolling" towards your comrades?? Running, striding, creeping, sneaking, any number of different words to describe movement depending on what type of battle situation you're in, but strolling? He uses this word often to describe character movement, and given the scenarios the characters tend to be in at the time, I highly doubt anyone would be strolling anywhere). Then there is the proliferation of commas. There, are, like, commas, everywhere, because, it, seems, the author doesn't know how to construct sentences with anything else. Very frequently, a semi-colon would be more appropriate, as would a period, followed by a separate sentence. Put simply, this manuscript requires some serious rewriting followed by heavy editing. Then maybe it would be possible to read it without cringing every couple of pages. Yes, I'm an English Major.

Decent story line. Amauter is writing. Maybe an editing issue? Good enough read though. The characters are a little flat but the story carries them.

thirsting for more!

Where are the nuclear submarines? Why on earth didn't the existing armies have armor piercing high explosive rounds? where are the a10 warthogs or their future equivalents? Why didn't they salvage alien weapons? Why didn't they use the fallen alien mechs as shields or armor plating for their own tanks? and finally if they can land an assault force on tartaros, they can certainly launch another nuke and hit it this time. Otherwise completely riveting. :) I'm thinking of buying the next book.

Decent Military SF yarn.
June 5th, 2013
This book was a decent enough start to a series. I was sometimes confused that the terrestrial hardware used in battles seemed too close to present-day versions... not that I expected energy weapons or antimatter grenades. But I somehow expected something more for a story set roughly 100 years in the future. This nit-pick aside, I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
