The story was good but the proof reader did a terrible job. The spelling was awful and took away from the enjoyment of the book. Sometimes I thought phrases were repeated over and over, as if to stretch out the story.

Boring read

Started out to be a promising and ended up being a waste of my time. Writers need to at least pretend that their readers have some intelligence.

Very different but interesting and good read. I liked the various characters in the book. Good to know there are other books to follow this story and this family

Great characters, setting, conflict, and plot twists. Time travel, immortals, setting in Scotland. 5 star all the way. I see more Barbara Monahan books on my Kobo!

A very good read. The only criticism I would have is that if the book is intended for the UK market perhaps some of the Americanisms could be removed. I.e. Edinburgh being referred to as Edinburg etc.

Not such a bad plot but its very simplistic way of writing and errors that should have been picked up by a proof reader let it down & eventually became annoying. The speech from those in the 17th centuary & language was very modern which again let it down. But the biggy for me was in the room of knowledge where something had to be kept at exactly 68 degrees. Had they developed the thermometer or way of measuring temperature so accuretly been invented? The ending also was a bit rushed. Tying up ends you knew were coming and then filling the reader in on how the all lived had children all set to lead in to book 2. But then thats just my opinion.
