Synopsis

The most anticipated story in the blockbuster Dark-Hunter series. The never-before-revealed story of the Dark-Hunter leader, Acheron. He was made human in order to escape death, but in death he was reborn a god. . .

Eleven thousand years ago a god was born. Cursed into the body of a human, Acheron spent a lifetime of shame. However, his human death unleashed an unspeakable horror that almost destroyed the earth. Then, brought back against his will, Acheron became the sole defender of mankind.

Only it was never that simple. For centuries, he has fought for our survival and hidden a past he'll do anything to keep concealed. Until a lone woman who refuses to be intimidated by him threatens his very existence.

Now his survival, and ours, hinges on hers and old enemies reawaken and unite to kill them both.
War has never been more deadly... or more fun.

This has got to be one of the best books I have ever read. It keeps you on your toes, you feel like you know the characters personally and you can not wait to pick up where you left off. Excellent book, I recommend this to all.

The story, finally, of the early life of Acheron. The leader of the Dark Hunters, has always been so mysterious. We learn of his tragic early history, his curse, his family and how he became so strong..he is also a real hottie. The book is very long, but Ash's story should be as tall as his 6foot8inch body...did I mention that he's a hottie?...One gets to meet the surprising woman who captures his heart...A very good read...

OMG!

When I first started reading the Dark Hunters series, I was captivated by the ever elusive Acheron. Who was he? Where did he come from? This book answers every one of my questions and then some. I went through every emotion reading this. Sadness, anger, happiness...To me, this is Mrs. Kenyon at her best. Beautifully written.

Awesome Book!!!!!

I love this book because Ash is one of my favorite characters. The first part of the book is really sad & shows a side of humanity that I have never had to face myself. But I know that not everyone has been as fortunate as me. So my heart & prayers go out to everyone who has ever had to live with domestic violence &/or sexual assault. The second part of the book is set in present day New Orleans and has a great ending!!!!

I have read this book more times than I can count! Sherrilyn Kenyon is an amazing writer! This story truly captivates me in her telling of his story! He is so mysterious and private in all her other books so I was super excited to get to know Acheron himself! Five stars for this repeat read!

Balanced
March 29th, 2013
It's very rate that I rate a book with 4.5 stars but I think it's well deserved. It was very well balanced and I like how Part One was dark, gloomy, and heavy then Part Two was funny, entertaining, and light to read. Like I said, balanced.
