Synopsis

This Omnibus Edition collects the five Wool books into a single volume. It is for those who arrived late to the party and who wish to save a dollar or two while picking up the same stories in a single package.

The first Wool story was released as a standalone short in July of 2011. Due to reviewer demand, the rest of the story was released over the next six months. My thanks go out to those reviewers who clamored for more. Without you, none of this would exist. Your demand created this as much as I did.

This is the story of mankind clawing for survival, of mankind on the edge. The world outside has grown unkind, the view of it limited, talk of it forbidden. But there are always those who hope, who dream. These are the dangerous people, the residents who infect others with their optimism. Their punishment is simple. They are given the very thing they profess to want: They are allowed outside.

Couldn't put this down. Great story, well-written and full of suspense. Doesn't delve too much into tech-talk or military-style fighting like a lot of space operas do, which was a great relief, but maintains a very good level of sci-fi elements for the sci-fi lovers out there.

A deep work of genius
November 17th, 2014
This is my new favourite story. This author is a master of building tension and of revealing just enough truth fill you with dread (and just a sliver of hope) at what the next piece of the puzzle might mean. Assuming you see it coming at all. I would have been very happy to pay $12 for this. As it is, I'm ecstatic. Get it.

I knew I'd been missing out on something special. This is a great read and so hard to put down. Hugh Howdy is the best "nobody" author I've ever read. He's certainly "somebody" as far as I'm concerned!

This book is amazing. If you love dystopian/sci-fi, you will love this book! It's like "The Hunger Games" mixed with "1984." I'm halfway through the second book now and the story is still going strong.

Wool--a great yarn!
June 28th, 2014
Wool is a compelling dystopian journey and I look forward to reading Shift and Sand. I was amazed at how well-woven this story is. Hugh Howey has created a deeply textured universe with strongly written characters that really engage you. The storyline is detailed and believable. With enough exposure, his work may become well-known and respected. I also loved the role of IT in the story. A pleasure to read and highly recommended.

Read this book! It's exciting to discover a new, young writer learning to flex his muscles. His characters are interesting and well developed. I couldn't help caring about them. He is full of fresh ideas and his pacing is splendid.

This series is scary good
March 17th, 2014
I highly recommend this book for anyone who likes books that showcase the human condition is scary circumstances. It was hard to read (due to the premise) but definitely worth it. Well developed characters and plot and it was ridiculously cheap. This author is not famous and therefore charging next to nothing. I think he is very talented and creative and deserving of some praise for getting his books out there!

Wool omnibus
February 13th, 2014
This is a fantastic read, well written characters, an intriguing mystery, I would call it a sci-fi thriller with lots of action and just enough political intrigue and optimism to keep everything moving at a nice pace. I think this series could be as popular as Post Human if the writing stays this good.
