Synopsis

Scary, funny, and surprisingly poignant, Warm Bodies is about being alive, being dead, and the blurry line in between.

R is having a no-life crisis—he is a zombie. He has no memories, no identity, and no pulse, but he is a little different from his fellow Dead. He may occasionally eat people, but he’d rather be riding abandoned airport escalators, listening to Sinatra in the cozy 747 he calls home, or collecting souvenirs from the ruins of civilization.

And then he meets a girl.

First as his captive, then his reluctant house guest, Julie is a blast of living color in R’s gray landscape, and something inside him begins to bloom. He doesn’t want to eat this girl—although she looks delicious—he wants to protect her. But their unlikely bond will cause ripples they can’t imagine, and their hopeless world won’t change without a fight.

Zombierific

I view zombies in a completely different way now that I've read this book! The whole book is told by a zombie witch is a very unique way of writing a book! I loved the story and the different steps in the book; step 1:wanting, step 2: taking, and step 3: living. Throughout the book as the zombies evolved it really impacted the way I feel about zombies. In the book zombies can talk and think and they have wives and children! I just loved this book!

Very unusual plot - despite the fact that it is another "zombie apocalypses" setting, the story is nothing like other zombie-stories out there. Funny, captivating, philosophical, romantic- it has it all. Highly recommend this book to anybody.

A lovely read. Full of action, and unexpected romance, this book is easy to fly through in under a week. Once you pick it up, it's near impossible to put it down. Definitely a recommended read!

I couldn't stop once I started it.

Just a tantalizing appetizer to what I'm sure will prove to be a banquet of delicately seasoned, mind-provokingly fresh ideas and perspectives from this author. I hope to be able to read more from him soon. I am sad that I devoured it in a single day.

Very enjoyable take on zombies

While it's not a masterpiece, Warm Bodies offers an interesting take on zombies. I can only hope for such a story to be written without the romance, which takes all the place here, in my opinion. That being said, I couldn't put it down once started!

An enjoyable zombie romance

Would have loved to read more of R and M's interactions.. always funny to read about. (Spoiler alert) Thought the ending was too perfect and fairytale-like. Ah well... read for escapism. Didn't quite feel that Boneys and their mass telepathic thing was quite convincing. Felt a little too implausible, and didn't quite fit.

What an excellent book
February 12th, 2013
From when I first started reading it, until the end, this book was awesome! I enjoy the idea of hope for the undead that comes with this story, and how deeply the thoughts of the zombie R are expressed. He thinks deeper than most people do I think, and the author expresses it well. I would recommend this to anyone.

Five Stars

This is one of the most well written novels I've ever read. R is an intriguing and inspiring character. His personal growth as he strives, seemingly unknowingly, towards his own lost humanity is simply beautiful. I would (and do) recommend this book to anyone and everyone who considers themselves to be a reader. R's story will warm both your heart and your soul.

Very entertaining

This would only be the second Zombie book I ever read and both are very different than the genre entails. It was a short read but one I read in a single seating because it was interesting from the first to last page. I will defiantly be seeing the movie now and am looking even more forward to it
