Synopsis

You only have to mention the name Baby P and it stirs up emotions of anger and sadness. It is a name that will forever be associated with how cruel and evil people can be. Baby P (Peter Connelly) was an innocent angel who suffered the most horrendous torture and abuse at the hands of his stepfather and his stepfather’s brother, while his neglectful mother looked away, more interested in internet chat rooms than the duties of being a mother. Peter was to die an avoidable death as social workers and medical workers alike were so incompetent and negligent in their duties and work that they failed to see that Peter was being systematically abused, tortured and beaten over a period of time. They should have ensured this child’s safety and well-being; instead they returned him repeatedly to the dangerous environment that would result in his demise. Doctors failed to notice horrific injuries time after time and social workers ignored the flea infested squalor that Peter was to living in. This book takes a look at what turned the murderers of Baby P into the monsters they are and shows how a social care system failed a child in every aspect of his life. This book is a very sad story but all the facts, however unpleasant, need to be known to ensure this never happens again.

Worse than Evil

This book broke my heart. For those of us unable to have children, it devastates us. Those who are privileged and honoured with a child should be thankful and greatful. Not abusive and dismissive. Frank and to the point.

Absolutely heart wrenching. Will always remember baby Peter. There is no word on earth that describes the sick and twisted caregivers of this little baby. May you rest in peace. Safe at last

Sad

Hard to believe how everyone in authority so brutally failed Peter. This poor child had all the classic signs of abuse and those that could actually do something did nothing. Even worse is that now all the people responsible for his death are now free. Such a miscarriage of justice :(

Worse than evil

This was a heart rending account of the sadness and misery too many of our most vulnerable members of society endure. As a retired child protection worker I ask everyone that reads this to be aware of child abuse. The "worst" that can happen is that you may be mistaken but the best thing is you may save a life. Turn off the blinkers.

Heart broken

I have never read a book that touched my heart so much and got me angry at the same time. The people that done this to this poor infant don't deserve to breath the air they do. Baby Peter may have been taken at a young age but he will never be forgotten. This story had touched the hearts of do many people. I really hope the childcare system never forget this story and not make thus mistake again. Rip little man!! <3
