Joey had no idea what he wanted to do after high school, but he was certain it didn’t involve going into space. It also didn’t include being thrust thousands of years into the future. When he finds himself aboard a spaceship, the S.S. Acid Rat, he’s certain he must be dreaming.

Vic and June, both also from Earth’s now distant past, assure Joey that he’s not in a dream. He is aboard a shipping vessel that is making a ‘routine’ delivery. For Vic that means being pursued by the local authorities during his planet to planet run.

There is only little time for Joey to meet the rest of the crew before they’re making the delivery. Once it’s complete, Vic accepts a wager to within twenty-four standard hours with a shipment of beer for the celebration.

Then things start to get interesting for Joey and the crew of the S.S. Acid Rat.

The authorities continue their pursuit, one of the crew tries to sabotage the mission, and a blockade impedes their return. Everyone must pull their weight, even the newest shipmate, Joey, who is still trying to deal with his situation. If they don’t make it back in time, they won’t get paid.
