Synopsis

Three and Out tells the story of how college football's most influential coach took over the nation's most successful program, only to produce three of the worst seasons in the histories of both Rich Rodriguez and the University of Michigan. Shortly after his controversial move from West Virginia, where he had just taken his alma mater to the #1 ranking for the first time in school history, Coach Rich Rodriguez granted author and journalist John U. Bacon unrestricted access to Michigan's program. Bacon saw it all, from the meals and the meetings, to the practices and the games, to the sidelines and the locker rooms. Nothing and no one was off limits. John U. Bacon's Three and Out is the definitive account of a football marriage seemingly made in heaven that broke up after just three years, and lifts the lid on the best and the worst of college football.

What does it take to coach football at Michigan? Read this book and it will open your eyes to the REAL story about Michigan expectations and unrealistic focus on obtaining "success" no matter what the cost even at the expense of someone's individual character. Interesting how coach "Rod" has gone to Arizona and has two eight win seasons and two bowl game victories during his first two years. This book really tells the story of what it means to be a "Michigan Man".

A very enlightening book.

An unfortunate situation for Coach Rodriguez whom I believe was doing what he could white what he was given. A unique look at the inner workings of one of the biggest business in America. It reiterates many of the themes outlined in John Bacon's other book "Bo's Lasting lessons" about the keys to success ... Hopefully the lessons have been learned. Good job Mr. Bacon. Go Blue!!
