Synopsis

John Cassian (360 435 A.D.) is a saint in the Orthodox and Catholic Churches, and one of the early fathers of monasticism. One of his most famous works, Institutes, set the foundation for the organization of monasteries. Book VI, on the Spirit of Fornication, is omitted in this translation.
