Synopsis

Avoiding traditional mythologies this book provides a factual description of the origins of the people of Ireland and of the culture of Ireland in chronological order from their first beginnings up until the years 1200 AD. Descriptions are given as far as they can be determined in the pre-historic periods with material drawn from archaeology and from comparisons with similar contemporary societies. The questions are examined whether there was a distinct Celtic race, and if so did any of them come to Ireland. Later, when written sources become available, they are examined for evidence.
