Synopsis

Eighteen-year-old Rhonda Bidleman loves her family, her dog, and her best friends, Christine Swartworth and Katy Fisher. What she doesn’t love is her strict Amish Ordnung in Snyder County, her father’s puppy mill, and the heartbreak that her two best friends have run away three months ago to experience the English side of life. The wild English side of life. And, ach, the stories they tell!
Rhonda can wait no longer. She leaves with her dog Buttons to live with her two friends, but circumstances lead her to her Aunt Louellen’s Mennonite home, where she meets handsome Rodney Hornberger. A relationship blossoms, and Rhonda plans to live with her aunt, take on cleaning jobs to support herself, and become Mennonite.
But when her dog is killed on the highway, Rhonda blames herself, Rodney, and God. She decides to leave her aunt’s home and her friendship with Rodney and move in with Christine and Katy. Then at the church’s Valentine’s Day Banquet, Rodney’s act of kindness changes Rhonda’s mind.
What Does Rodney do to compel Rhonda to stay?
